A player rising to attack at the net during a volleyball pod
Volleyball · K → adult

First serve to club-level reps.

Six courts, lined and lit, and a program for every stage: tots learning to toss, third graders earning an overhand serve, position pods at national pace, and an adult academy on Monday nights — directed by Coach Hunter Haley.

01 What we run

Every level, every week.

Programs run in short blocks; many meet twice a week. Pick the level, then pick the night on the schedule below.

  • Young campers playing volleyball over a low net
    K → 2nd grade

    Elite Tots

The very first touches: tossing, catching, moving to the ball, and a lot of laughing. Short sessions, small groups, a coach on the floor the whole time.

  • A player platform-passing in front of the DSSC mural
    3rd → 8th grade

Volleyball 101 & Guaranteed to Serve

Fundamentals first. Volleyball 101 teaches passing, setting and serving from zero; Guaranteed to Serve (3rd–5th and 6th–8th) is built around one goal: an overhand serve over the net by the end of the block.

  • A player mid-swing at the net during hitting practice
    U11 → U15 · by position

    Volleyball Pods

Small groups by age and position — setters, liberos and DS, pins, middles, hitters, passing and defense — at National and Regional pace, with pass packages so you can come as often as the season allows.

  • A coach and player talking at the net with a cart of volleyballs
    Clinics & camps

    Serve, jump serve, all-skills

Focused clinics — serve and serve receive by age group, Coach Hunter’s jump serve classes, all-skills clinics on school holidays — and the DS Elite Rise Fall Camp, a longer clinic for club players. Each one’s own page is in the schedule below.

  • A line of players waiting at the net during practice
    18+

    Women’s Adult Volleyball Academy

For women who played, or always wanted to. Coached sessions one weeknight a week at the Warehouse, no tryout.

02 Meet the director

Coach Hunter.

Hunter Haley · Director of Volleyball

  • Setter · Mira Costa HS
  • Division I · USC men’s volleyball
  • 18+ years coaching, incl. international
  • Head coach, DS Elite 15 Diamond

Hunter grew up in a volleyball family and played setter at Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach, California — one of the country’s premier programs and the mecca of Southern California volleyball — before playing Division I men’s volleyball at the University of Southern California.

He has coached for more than 18 years, including internationally, with athletes of all ages and skill levels, and he still coaches like a setter: communication, court awareness, decision-making, team first. At DSSC he directs the whole volleyball program, from Elite Tots through the position pods to the adult academy, and he teaches the jump serve classes himself.

Family is the most important thing in his life, and he brings those values — respect, commitment, support, teamwork — into the gym. Fun fact: every one of his siblings has a name that starts with H.

04 The club that trains here

Home of DS Elite.

DS Elite Volleyball Club — 20 teams and 200+ athletes across Rise, Regional and National — practices on these courts. Our pods and clinics are how club players sharpen one position at a time, and how new players get ready to try out.

05 Questions

Before the first serve.

Where does my kid start?

K–2nd: Elite Tots. 3rd grade and up with no experience: Volleyball 101 or Guaranteed to Serve. Played a season or two: a Pod in your age group and position. Not sure? Ask below and we’ll point you to the right first session.

How does registration work?

Everything registers on Playbook, our registration system. One family account covers every player, every sport; you’ll see dates, prices and what’s left of each block there. The sessions on this page are live from Playbook, and Playbook opens in a new tab.

Is there an open gym pass?

Yes — the Open Gym Membership is on Playbook, and on our programs page it’s listed with the volleyball pass packages, next to the PODs Pass. Open court hours are on the open gym page.

What should they bring?

Knee pads, court shoes (not the ones they wore outside), a water bottle. Balls are on us. Hair up, no jewelry.

Where is it?

In Warehouse I and Warehouse II, right next to each other at 15113 Fitzhugh Rd, Suite 1400 — three basketball courts that flip to six volleyball courts across the two buildings.

Is this DS Elite?

DSSC is the building and the programs; DS Elite Volleyball Club is the travel club that trains here. Pods and clinics are open to everyone, club or not. Tryouts for DS Elite are held in late June — details on dselitevolleyball.com.

Not sure where to start?

Tell us about the player — age, experience, what they want out of it — and Coach Hunter’s staff will point you to the right first session.
